Issues and Recommendations Technical Workgroup Nominations Sought
The Arkansas Natural Resources Commission (ANRC) seeks approximately 55 citizens to commit to serve on the Statewide Water Resources Issues and Recommendations Technical Workgroup to help lead the next phase of the Plan update. A flow chart showing the process is included below.
The Statewide Workgroup will consist of five Water Resources Planning Region Issues and Recommendations Technical Workgroups (see map on the accompanying nomination form) of approximately 11 people each.
Each member appointed by ANRC will represent, within their region, one of the interest groups listed on the form. The Regional Workgroups will identify and prioritize water issues and develop recommendations of concern to their areas. They will bring those concerns together as the Statewide Issues and Recommendations Technical Workgroup to formulate a list of statewide issues and recommendations.
The number of appointed Workgroup members is being kept small to ensure an efficient process during the next year. However, all meetings will be open to the public, and will include opportunities to voice concerns. We want to hear from ALL Arkansans interested in water issues and are committed to continuing an open dialog.
It is important to understand the nomination process and duties of Workgroup members:
Being nominated, or nominating yourself to serve does not automatically mean that you will be selected by the ANRC to serve.
This is a voluntary effort, and no member will be receiving any form of compensation or reimbursement from ANRC for participation in this effort.
It is not necessary to reside in the region in which you want to serve, but you must have a personal or business interest in water issues in that region.
As a member, you would be expected to attend four meetings from January through May. Two of the meetings will be in the Little Rock area and two meetings will be in each of the regional planning areas. The meetings will be held during regular working hours.

If you are not interested in being a member of the Workgroup, please consider attending the regional and statewide meetings. All meetings are open to the public and will be announced on the web site and in the newsletter.
